Sanctuary is a Canadian scifi TV show that has been building up a strong fan base in the United States, among other countries. The show follows the often bizarre adventures of Dr. Helen Magnus, whose doctoral specialty is cryptobiology.
What exactly is cryptobiology you ask? The study of monsters. You can imagine what kind of craziness the doc gets herself and her crew into. Magnus is a humanist--or perhaps a "monsterist?"--in that she considers it her moral duty to protect those who are considered to be monsters by society.
Sanctuary stars Amanda Tapping of Stargate Atlantis fame.
